The DamYak Chellenge - Mark A
Our mission is to provide a fun, interactive event promoting the natural beauty of the McHenry Riverwalk, Downtown Business District, Miller Pointe and the Fox River while incorporating healthy lifestyle choices through an activity everyone can enjoy, KAYAKING! Our 4.8-mile challenge on the Fox River drew 144 participants last year. www.damyak.com Thanks in large part to the tremendous support from Gary Lang Subaru we were able to donate $11,500 to Kids In Need McHenry County (KIN) www.kinmc.org KINs mission We strive to identify and provide kids in need the important resources necessary for a happy and healthy childhood. The work KIN does is amazing and we are so happy and fortunate to be able to contribute to this group. Thank you, Gary Lang Subaru, for helping to make this possible.
Gary Lang Subaru Goes the Extra Mile for Pets - Mark A
Gary Lang Subaru goes the extra mile for pets. A Heart for Animals cant thank them enough for their generosity. One of the great events is the adopt a pet yearly affair. This event is a great event for rescues and people looking for a pet. It is well organized and well attended with the advertising Gary Lang provides. This one-day event has always been successful for us and we havent missed one yet. This year we took in 5 animals that had severe medical issues. One of them, unfortunately did not survive their issue and passed away. This was Hope, and she was featured on Gary Langs Facebook page on October 28, 2021. She was a kitten born around 8/26/21. We pulled a couple of seniors, as we feel they deserve to live their last years in a good loving home. We usually dont know a dog is heartworm positive until they are in our care. We always have our vet perform a heart worm test when they arrive. We are happy to say two of the seniors were adopted in October. One of the seniors adopted also was heart worm positive. The second heartworm positive dog is Liberty. She came to us from Tennessee with four puppies. The four puppies were adopted quickly. Many adopters were interested in Liberty, until they heard she was heart worm positive. We are happy to say she found her family and will be in her forever home on 11/5/21. Even after a heart worm positive dog is adopted, A Heart for Animals continues to pay for their treatment until they are heart worm negative. This is a very costly treatment and takes months for the heart worm to die off. One of our cats that came in had surgery (she was spayed) and then was rushed the ER Vet. She underwent 5 blood transfusions. She is now healthy and waiting for her forever home. We are proud to be a part of the Gary Lang and Subaru family. A Heart for Animals cant thank you both enough for your generosity. With these additional funds we are able to save the next bunch of animals that are waiting for us to save them.
Gary Lang Supports Toys for Tots - Daniel B
This year marks the 74th National Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Campaign to support the less fortunate children in our McHenry County communities at Christmas. How do we accomplish this mission of collecting new toys and distributing them to those in need? One way is through generous Gary Lang Subaru customers who designated the McHenry County Campaign of the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program as their local charity of choice in the Subaru Share the Love Event. Each year when people in the McHenry County communities donate new toys to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots, we find certain age groups are often underrepresented with the toys donated. The McHenry County Campaign is able to offset that shortage of toys for the older kids by using the funds from the Subaru Share the Love Event. Our volunteer elves go to local toys stores and purchase toys for those children with the Share the Love funds. The McHenry County Marine Toys for Tots appreciates the support given to this worthy cause of providing Christmas cheer to those families in our county who have fallen on difficult times. Our campaign and the United States Marine Corps are proud to know that the Gary Lang Subaru Share the Love Event has made the McHenry County Marine Corps Toys for Tots program as their local charity. Not only am I late to the "Subaru Family", in my 60's, with my SECOND Subaru, I am totally sold on driving Subaru's from this point on! My second Crosstrek is truly spot on with everything I've dreamed of in a car and more .... more than I know how to fully utilize, so you'll be hearing from me to set up my "tutorial" to learn how to love my Subaru even MORE! Thank you Reilly Huber for such patience, knowledge, professionalism AND kindness, helping me find the right vehicle. Reilly could not have been more wonderful to work with, keeping me posted as to when my vehicle arrived and the timing worked out perfectly. The Toy Story Litter - Ginny P
This is Mama Bonnie and her 10 puppies that came into A Heart for Animals Rescue on 9/10/2020. This was taken shortly before we found out that Bonnie is grade 2 Heartworm positive and before her 10 puppies were diagnosed with Parvo. As of Monday, September 21, we had all 10 puppies in various vet offices and Animal Emergency Rooms, fighting for their lives. They were only 7 weeks old. This poor family was found under a trailer. Their care ran $17,000. This kind of expense is not an easy one for our small Rescue with big hearts. On Sunday, September 27, we lost little pup named Woody. He fought so hard but took a turn for the worse. We can't thank Gary Lang Subaru for the donation during the October Subaru Love Your Pet promotion. The money will go towards helping pay the medical bills incurred for these puppies and their wonderful mom. Gary Lang cares about their community and they and genuinely care for the well being of humans and animals alike. Thank you Gary Lang Family!!!

We had a great visit with Gary Lang Subaru, Centegra Sage Cancer Center, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Blankets were delivered to the staff of the hospital and will be hand delivered to patients undergoing treatment for cancer. Thank you, Subaru, for bringing warmth to cancer patients. We appreciate the partnership!

Be A Hero Rescue Event at McHenry McBark Park - Tina C
Special thanks to Gary Lang Subaru for sponsoring the City of McHenry's McBark Park, a place where people and their pups can meet and play...On Sun, May 29, 2016, the City of McHenry partnered with Gary Lang Subaru, Star 105.5 and local dog friendly businesses along with 5 rescue groups and we were able to place 14 dogs into their forever homes. The dog park was full of happy pups and their families and the vendors and rescues all had a fun-filled day. We LOVE Gary Lang Subaru!
